Ability protection is the ability to protect one's ability and the abilities of others from negation and deletion.

New Malus Guard Member[]
The Guard member was able to protect abilities from ability negation, ability deletion, deletion, negation, ability manipulation, ability negativity and mental manipulation, but he couldn't prevent abilities from being stolen or absorbed, and he also couldn't prevent any drugs or poisons from stopping a person from accessing his or her ability. He needed to consciously activate the ability, but maintaining it took almost no effort. The effect only lasted while he remained alive and present. During the Firelock Coven's second attack against the Malus, he protected the Guard members' abilities from Seth and Lleucu Grey's ability manipulation until he himself was killed.
Tamara Bishop[]
Tamara will be capable of protecting people's abilities from negation and deletion. She will be able to defend her own abilities as well as the abilities of others, but she will need to be near the other person if she is protecting another individual. She will also struggle to protect a large crowd of people at once. Her protection will be effective against all abilities which negate or delete, but it won't work against theft or absorption, and it will also have no effect on the inability to access an ability because of lack of concentration. Tamara will always need to be conscious to protect abilities.
